Global Recycled Standard

The Global Recycling Standard (GRS) was originally developed by Control Union Certifications in 2008, and its ownership was transferred to the Textile Exchange on January 1, 2011. The GRS is a voluntary, international product standard and comprehensive that sets requirements for third-party certification of recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.

The GRS is designed to meet the needs of companies seeking to verify the recycled content of their products (both finished and
intermediate), and to verify responsible social, environmental and chemical practices in their production. The objectives of the GRS are to define requirements to ensure accurate content statements and good working conditions, and that the harmful environmental and chemical impact has been minimized. This includes ginning, spinning, weaving and knitting, dyeing, printing and sewing companies in more than 50 countries.

OCS 100

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to any non-food product that contains 95-100% organic matter. It verifies the presence and amount of organic matter in a final product, and monitors the flow of raw materials from its origin to the final product.

The OCS 100 relies on third party verification to confirm whether an end product contains the precise amount of a given organically grown material. OCS enables a transparent, consistent, and comprehensive and independent evaluation and verification of organic matter content statements.

OCS 100 covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trading and distribution of a product that contains at least 95% certified “organic” materials. It can be used as a “business-to-business” tool to give companies the assurance that they are selling the quality they’re paying for.

OCS BLENDED

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) applies to non-food products that contain 5-100% organic matter. Verify the presence and quantity of organic matter in a final product. In addition, OCS tracks the flow of a raw material from its origin to the final product. Then this process is certified by an accredited third party.

The OCS relies on third party verification to confirm whether an end product contains the precise amount of a given organically grown material. OCS enables a transparent, consistent and comprehensive independent evaluation and verification of organic matter content statements in products. OCS covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labeling, trade and distribution of a product that contains at least 5% certified “organic” materials. It can be used as a “business-to-business” tool to give companies the assurance that they are selling the quality they’re paying for.
